Summer Fitness

Ah, summer... Season of the dreaded swimsuit.  Like most folks, I typically find that I gain a little weight during the winter holiday season, although I've gotten better at controlling my weight over the years.  I do work out year round, but I always find that I need to kick it up a few notches come spring to make sure I'm ready to feel awesome when the temperature spikes and fewer clothes become a necessity.  I've been working out in earnest since February, after having a lazier fall and winter that mostly involved dog walking and yoga because my workload was so out of control.  Below is what a "normal" workout week looks like for me right now, although every week is different and sometimes I find that I can't stick to my routine because of another commitment or due to illness or injury.  As with the food, I'm not any sort of expert in fitness, this is just what has been working for me.

A Typical Day of Eating...

So as I'm settling into my summer routine, I've been taking some time to re-examine my eating habits to make sure that I'm making the best personal choices that I can about my nutrition.  As a disclaimer, I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist, I'm just a girl who likes to eat!

What I Ate Wednesday!

I've seen a LOT of people doing this on their blogs and it was too cute (and alliterative!) for me to pass up on.  Thanks to all the bloggers out their who inspired this idea!

Second-Hand Haul!

I had some appointments to keep today across town and took advantage of this by hitting up one of my favorite second-hand stores nearby when I was done.  It's always like a treasure hunt to step inside one of these stores!  I love searching the racks for my favorite labels and looking for one-of-a-kind pieces.  It's also a great way to stretch my clothing budget.  I spent a grand total of $20 today and a portion of my purchase goes to helping a children's charity, too.

My Body Care Must-Haves

Hi guys!

I was tidying up my bathroom earlier and thinking about some of my favorite self-care items that I buy over and over.  Here are the things I love so much that I buy replacements without even glancing at what else is on the shelf:

A Summer Rainbow!

Hey, guys!

Here's my latest summer find.  I took advantage of a sale at J Crew's website a few weeks ago and ordered a handful of t-shirts to spruce up my summer looks, and finally got all but one of them yesterday.  The delivery date wound up conflicting with our vacation last week, so I had to put the box on hold and went and picked it up yesterday.  The last time I had to find the distribution center was years ago and it felt really complicated.  I also got very, very lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood last time.  That must have been before I had a smartphone with navigation, because I found the place no problem yesterday and they were super nice about finding my box.

Welcome to my Blog!

Hi, guys!  I'm really excited to be starting a blog.  My name is Amy and I'm a science teacher at a private school.  This blog is intended to be a little bit of a lot of things: fashion, food, exercise, and general lifestyle.  Even though I work in a classroom, I love clothes, jewelry, and shoes - especially heels!  There seems to be a stereotype that teachers are unfashionable and I am here to break it!  I won't be doing any Outfit of the Day shots right now since I am on summer break and happily working online, but there will be plenty of them coming once school is back in session.  My style is classic/preppy with a dose of eclectic thrown in.  I love to shop for labels at local second-hand stores and some of my favorite pieces are recycled.

Athens Trip: Day 4- The Acropolis!

Hello again! Athens' crown jewel is really the Acropolis.  A series of temples dedicated to Athena, the patron Greek goddess of the cit...
